long rant :PPPPPPPPP
People keep linking me this pic.
1st of all they are NOT the contestants for Miss Korea but Miss Daegu. The 2 pics below show how they look like without the glamour.
makeup,eyebrows, skin and
Photoshop- i’d like to add almost any professional picture in Korea is photoshopped Even High School photo’s, so most these pictures are photoshopped that’s the noses and jaws look similar.
I don’t want to say it, but this is just the media and they’re ignorant views and opinions on something they know nothing about. Remember who are the people that keep promoting Korea as a plastic nation. Korea or foreign media*cough*jezebel*cough*
Koreans, hate being labeled as all of them having plastic surgery nation? To the point where they themselves bash Korean men and women, who have work done and call themselves monsters no matter how good they look. Koreans hate the “clones” as much as everyone.
To me this is how obvious the photoshop looked like.

No Korean girl looks like this in real life.
These are the “clones” Koreans hate. aka Gangnam Girls

If you guys want see how those “same” looking plastic clones, some what not photoshopped look like and how they obviously photoshopped ones look like I suggest you check these blogs out. They show how those people with the same surgeons, look nothing alike, how the photoshopped ones do.
Stop letting the media and things like my blog, mold your view of how Korean people are. At the end of the day pictures, are pictures. They start a story but never end them. You will be shocked at the not so shocking amount of Koreans that have small eyes, flat noses, and big jaws. Koreans care more about school, drama’s,gangnam style, hair, and kimchi than they do plastic surgery. It’s not what defines them let alone a person. not all 40 million korean citizens have had plastic surgery, let alone the pretty ones.
Honestly, look at the pics with the photoshop individually the girls look nothing alike, only the chins look really similar :p

Making its rounds on Reddit today is a compiled GIF of eerily similar Miss Korea contestants, sparking discussions on racism (“They all look the same??”), plastic surgery, and rigid standards of normative beauty.
Firstly, it appears that the selection is not representative of all Korea since the pictured contestants are from the Miss Daegu 2013 competition.
There has also been a photo picturing young Korean contestants without makeup offered as comparison, but it is a different group entirely (Miss Seoul 2013).

All that aside, it has been brought up in comments that the “They all look the same??” reaction can be attributed to
(1) Inability to distinguish small differences in racial appearances that we are not as exposed to in the day-to-day (See also: Miss USA 2013…1, 2),
(2) Rigid standards of beauty in Korea and the prevalence of plastic surgery,

(3) Makeup and/or photoshop, and a combination of the aforementioned and other factors.
I hesitate to link to Jezebel, but this is a compilation post for my future reference so: I Can’t Stop Looking at These South Korean Women Who’ve Had Plastic Surgery

Here’s some commentary on plastic surgery and Korean culture from another thread on Reddit: Korea’s plastic surgery mayhem is finally converging on the same face. Here are the miss korea 2013 contestants.

To wrap it all up, there’s also this article:
PLASTIC SURGERY NATION: CHINESE MAN SUES WIFE FOR BEING UGLY, WINS
BEIJING - A Chinese man recently divorced and sued his wife for giving him an ugly daughter. Not only did he win the case, his ex-wife was sentenced to pay him 750,000 Yuan ($120,000) in compensation, reported Sina News.
According to the report, Feng Jian, the indignant husband, was shocked by his newborn daughter’s appearance. Not only did the baby not look like either of her parents but, he was horrified by how “incredibly ugly” she looked.
Sina News reported that at first, Feng suspected his wife of being unfaithful. After a DNA test proved he was indeed the father of the ugly baby, his wife finally admitted that she had undergone 620,000 Yuan ($100,000) worth of plastic surgery before meeting him.

Plastic surgery is a hot topic at the moment in China. A recent advertisement for a Hong Kong plastic surgery clinic (pictured below) has triggered a hot debate in the country. The ad shows a family photo with a beautiful couple surrounded by three children who are, well, ugly ducklings.

The photo caption reads, “The only thing you have to worry about after plastic surgery is explaining it to your children,” E-Todayreports.

The thing with Asians and the Asian pop star aesthetic…I mean, it’s not like I expect guys I meet to really look like this. So it’s not like people expect me to look like a Kpop star, right?
That’s what I’d like to believe most of the time, but I guess when I talk with people who haven’t seen or interacted with an Asian person before it doesn’t always feel like that. Sometimes, it does feel like there are silly expectations, and I don’t fit any of them.
